Please Note: The Health Department Bureau of Vital Statistics handles all Birth Certificates, Death Certificates, and Marriage/Civil Union Certificates.
Dog Licenses are also only available through the Health Department.
Licenses for Raffles
Any nonprofit organization may apply for a raffle license for any event that is being held in the Township of Livingston. The applicant must have a current bi-annual registration ID from the State in order to apply for a license. Access the Raffle Application Packet (PDF).
A Background/License Record Check Form (PDF) must be completed by the applicant’s local (hometown) police department.
All liquor licenses are currently accounted for. Licenses must be renewed yearly by the license holder. The term is from July 1 to June 30. We also have other types of liquor licenses available from the State. For information about liquor licenses, please call Town Hall at 973-992-5000, ext. #5404.
Door-to-Door Solicitation Licenses
Door-to-door solicitors/peddlers in Livingston Township must obtain a license. To receive a license, bring the completed application, a check payable to Livingston Township, two passport photos, and a letter from your employer affirming that you have successfully passed a background check and that they will assume responsibility for your actions to the Clerk’s Office. Once the license is issued by the Township, the second page of the license will be required for you to maintain in your possession while going door to door and should be available upon request by a resident. Door-to-Door Solicitation Hours
Commercial solicitors/peddlers may only visit homes beginning at 10 am and ending one hour after sunset from October 1 through March 31 and at sunset throughout the rest of the year.
Non-commercial, religious and or political canvassers and solicitors protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution shall be permitted to perform those activities without a license, 9 am to 9 pm seven days a week.
All drivers need to submit a Limousine/Taxi Driver Application with completed background check from Livingston Police Dept. and include a $5 fee to the Clerk’s Office. Applicants must also file their Certificate of Liability Insurance with the Clerk’s Office. View the Taxi and Limousine Code.
