Township Will Collect Christmas Trees

Christmas tree for recyclingChristmas trees will be collected Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm from January 1 through January 30. Christmas trees may be left at the curb for pick-up.

By recycling Christmas trees the township is saving on the cost of garbage disposal, as the municipality is charged by weight to remove bulk items. In addition, through this program the township is adding another environmentally friendly initiative.

The Department of Public works (DPW) employees will chip the trees into mulch and make it available to residents for pick-up, at no cost, while supplies last. Call the DPW at 973-535-7931 to schedule a pick up of mulch. The mulch created from the trees can be used in flower beds and garden borders. Any extra mulch will be used around various township gardens.

Public Works superintendent Michael Anello announced, “The Township is very pleased to offer this service to residents as an enhancement to our current recycling programs.
