School House Rock Live, Jr. is Miss DePalo's sixth production.  Her other directing credits include Edna May’s Musical Theatre Camp for CTL and  Annie Jr., Schoolhouse Rock Jr., and Seussical Jr. for Riker Hill Elementary School.  After performing in various roles throughout her life, she wanted to bring her love for the theater to her students at Livingston High School and now at Riker Hill.  Miss DePalo currently teaches fourth grade at Riker Hill in Livingston, NJ.  She loves directing shows for CTL and can't wait to begin Schoolhouse Rock!

 

Marilyn FiordalisoMarilyn Fiordaliso, Music Director

Marilyn Fiordaliso is a private piano and voice instructor who has taught Livingston area musicians for over 35 years and is a proprietor of the Fiordaliso Music Studio.  She is a member of MENC, The Voice Care Network, American Choral Directors Association and the NJ Music Educators.  She has been a freelance piano accompanist since 1960 for choirs, community choruses, Newark Academy, Papermill Playhouse Summer Conservatory, Livingston Community Players (LCP), Florham Park Players and Playhouse at East Hanover.  She has done extensive work with LCP as Music Director, Development Chairperson, creator of Subscription Series, manager of School Ticket Sales, Director of Summer Singers Program and has worked backstage in every technical area.   Marilyn joined CTL for their maiden voyage as the music director for Edna May’s Musical Theatre Camp in 2007.

Hugh Mahon, Set Designer

Hugh Mahon  (Set Designer)    Hugh is founding board member of CTL and an award winning set designer.  His maiden voyage with CTL was with his good friend and playwright Paul Stefany on CTL’s first production, Edna May’s Musical Theatre Camp.  Hugh has brought excitement to the stage in many productions including LCP’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor, The King and I, The Sound of Music and JCC productions of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and Seussical.   He has been recognized by his peers with a Perry Award for set design for a musical.   As an artist and Livingston teacher Mahon is proud to advise and work together with CTL.

Jacqueline WashackJacqueline M. Washack, Choreography Consultant

Jacqueline M. Washack recently retired from the Livingston Public Schools after an outstanding 36-year career as a teacher in the music department.   Her varied experience includes ten years teaching music at Livingston High School as the choral director for the high school choir called "Something Else" and choreographing more than ten high school musicals including "South Pacific,"  "Hello Dolly" and "Pippin."  She has taught in both the middle and elementary schools and  was the creator of the elite middle school show choir "Showstoppers" in addition to being the choreographer for all of the school plays.  Washack's  career has spanned teaching general music, music appreciation,  music theory and music technology.  She also plays the cello,piano and guitar.

Three of Mrs. Washack's students work on Broadway:  Leslie Kritzer (actress),  Cathy Trien (actress) and Steven Oremus(musical director). Washack auditioned and was accepted to be a Radio City Rockette,  but made a life choice to teach and be with children.  In her free time she is an avid skier. Children's Theatre of Livingston is delighted to welcome Mrs. Washack as the choreographer for School House Rock Live!  Jr.


Susan ArnoldSusan Allen, Costume Designer

During her youth, Susan Allen participated in a variety of theater productions, both on stage and in the creation of costume designs.  While raising her children (who are now adult boys), Susan utilized her creative design skills as both a mom and a teacher.   She often costumed her children for organized themed events and as a nursery school teacher she wore many hats doing the same to costume her students.  Susan is very excited about the opportunity to be involved with CTL and working with the wonderful children in the cast and crew of SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK LIVE! JUNIOR.

Russ CrespoliniRuss Crespolini, Videographer

Russ Crespolini is a full time journalist and part time actor/writer/producer/director. Russ is thrilled to bring his skill set to Children's Theater of Livingston as videographer for their fabulous production of School House Rock Jr.

Russ has been seen locally as Horton in the JCC Metrowest production of Seussical, and as the title character in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. Other roles include Archie in The Secret Garden and Nicely Nicely Johnson for the Cranford Dramatic Club as well as Chauvelin in Florham Park Players Scarlet Pimpernel.

An independent film maker in his spare time, Russ began recording special events and theater productions at the behest of those who wanted someone "who knows how these things work" behind the lens. His first full length film, about New Jersey community theater, will be premiering at the end of April. You can see samples of this film and some of his previous work at www.massiverooster.com.

 

Kenneth Schwartz Kenneth Schwartz

Kenneth Schwartz is a gifted musician, playwright,  composer and director.   For many years he has been directing his own original work once or twice a year at Mount Pleasant Middle School where he teaches English to the 6th grade.   His love for the theater has inspired many students both on and off stage. Schwartz has lent a skit titled "CREWLESS" to CTL for the April 2008 production.   


 

 

BACKSTAGE WORKSHOPS

Sarit CatzSarit Catz

Sarit Catz began her comedy career creating, writing and producing three comedy services for ABC Radio Networks and other syndicated services.  Leaving radio, Sarit became a TV writer/producer with credits including Coach, Full House, Soul Man, Talk To Me, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids and others.  She created two original series, Girls’ Night for UPN and Click for Big Ticket Television, and has recently written and executive produced the independent television pilot, What She’s Having In features, Sarit wrote and sold options on two screenplays, currently being marketing to studios by producers.  She has won three Writers’ Guild of America Awards and was named a semi-finalist in the ScriptapaloozaTV screenwriting contest.  Sarit teaches sitcom writing at the People's Improv Theater in NYC and at The Learning Annex.  As a stand-up comic, Sarit plays top comedy clubs including The Comic Strip, Stand-Up New York, Gotham Comedy Club, The Improv and many others.  She performs in and produces the ongoing show Girls Gone Funny, has won Clash of the Comics three times and was a semi-finalist in The Great Canadian Laugh-Off.

Nina Sloan                              
Nina Sloan (Film & Video Commercial Producer/Assistant Director)

Nina Sloan is a freelance producer and assistant director, creating television commercials in the tri-state area for over 25 years.  Her specialty in production is Visual Effects, which means she works with directors and crew to fool the eye, from what is shot in camera to what ends up appearing in a finished TV commercial.  Aside from her role as Visual Effects Producer for Die Hard with a Vengeance, starring Bruce Willis, Nina works with national commercial clients like McDonalds, Wendy’s, Ziploc, BET, Head & Shoulders, Vaseline, Oscar Mayer, Peace Corps, Alltel, Sensodyne, and  BAM to name a few.  Many of these advertisers have put kids in their commercials to help them sell these products.   Other career highlights have been supervising MTV’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Videos and Saturday Night Live program openings. 

As a producer, Nina will take a storyboard idea and budget and work with a director to put together a crew, cast, set or location, rigging effects, wardrobe, props, and equipment in time for a scheduled shoot day.  On the shoot day, she becomes the assistant director, planning out the order of shots and how much time each can take, to finish the shoot day on time and on budget.  She will often help the director instruct actors, if he or she is too busy operating the camera. 

Nina is a long time member of the Director’s Guild of America, and can vote on movies for the Academy Awards.  She also belongs to the organization, NY Women in Film and Television.  She attended Duke University and graduated from Boston University with a degree in Broadcasting and Film.  She lives nearby in Montclair, New Jersey with her husband, son and two Jack Russels.

Camille DiLorenzoCamille Dilorenzo

Camille DiLorenzo (Stage Director) has directed the JCC Musical Theatre Company’s productions of Peter Pan, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown(awarded the NJACT Perry Award for Best Musical Production in 2006), Musical of Musicals and Seussical the Musical. She will direct, along with music director Ilene Greenbaum, this year’s production of Once on this Island at the JCC in West Orange. She production stage managed and assistant directed productions of Joseph. . .Dreamcoat and Wizard of Oz. Camille recently directed The King and I for the Livingston Community Players.

Camille was Properties Master for the WYACT/ New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s 2006 production of RAGTIME, The Musical.  She has served as Company Manager and assistant to director Cynthia Meryl for the last four seasons at NJPAC and Algonquin Arts Theatre.  She resumed that role this past summer on their 2007 production of Carousel. Camille has participated in over 30 area theatre productions as stage manager, production manager, properties master and performer.  Her favorite performance credits include Rose in Gypsy, Miss Hannigan in Annie, Saraghina in Nine and Sister Robert Ann in Nunsense.  Camille recognizes the importance of arts education in the world of theatre and looks forward to working with young performers and stage techies in the future.

Camille is a business owner in West Orange, wife and mother and longtime friend of the stage.
