FEMA Disaster Assistance
Craig Dufford, chairman of the township's Emergency
Management Committee, announced that FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, and New Jersey state disaster assistance is available to Livingston
residents who suffered property damage during the April 14 Nor'easter.
Homeowners, renters and business owners may apply to
the FEMA for assistance. Dufford noted that FEMA assistance is only
available for infrastructure damage, such as furnaces and water heaters.
Carpeting and other decorations are not included.
Applications may be made by calling 1-800-621-3362
[or TTY, 1-800-462-7585 for: federal housing assistance; state and
federal assistance for property damage; Small Business Administration
loans; repair, reconstruction and home utility protection; and tax
guidance. Calls may be made between 8:00 am - 8:00 pm, seven days a
week. Applications may also be made online at www.fema.gov.
Residents may also apply for aid in person at the Essex
County FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at the Fairfield Community Center,
376 Hollywood Ave., Fairfield, open daily from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm.
