Monmouth Court
Teen Center Reopens
High school
students and 7th graders each recently held successful Friday
night events at the newly reopened Teen Center at Monmouth
Court. Music was provided by students themselves and all
proceeds of the events were donated to the Livingston
Community SkatePark Fund. Eighth grade students are
planning their first event while the second high school event
is being scheduled to follow LHS mid-terms in January.
HCHY Youth
Program Coordinator to be hired by West Essex
YMCA
Helen Flores,
Executive Director of the West Essex YMCA has announced that
the YMCA will provide the funding and supervision for a part
time Youth Program Coordinator to oversee the Teen
Center. HCHY hopes to have the Center open after school
and on weekends, offering an informal lounge with TV and
video games, internet cafe, food concessionaire, volunteer
turtoring, game room, and special events.
Federated
Church of Livingston proposes Open-Mike
Nights
Rev. Leslie Martin of Livingston's Federated
Church has offered to host Open Mike Nights in their Memorial
Hall on designated Fridays in order to provide a
performance venue for young artists in our
community. Located across the street from both
Starbuck's and Livingston Town Center, Memorial
Hall would be a safe and convenient destination for
our youth - and provide excellent opportunities for talented
kids to perform their music, poetry, comedy, interpretive
reading, skits, mc'ing, etc. A planning meeting is
scheduled for next
week. |
