ELECTION DAY IS NOVEMBER 7, 2006
The Livingston
League of Women Voters reminds residents that October 17, 2006
is the final day for voter registration to participate in
the November 7 General Election. Applications are available
in the Livingston Township Hall, Township Clerk's Office
and on the web. Every
citizen over 18 is eligible to vote.
The
Township Clerk's Office at Town Hall will be open
from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17
to accommodate voter registrations.

One week before the General Election, every registered
voter will receive a sample ballot telling the candidates, parties,
and where to vote.
Livingston residents will vote on the new Sequoia
machine which has a paper receipt.
On November 7, voters will have an opportunity
to choose a congressman from Districts 8 and 11, a Senator, Essex
County Executive, Essex County sheriff, and three Livingston
Township Council candidates.
To help voters make an informed
decision, the Livingston League of Women Voters and the American
Association of University Women will sponsor Town Council Candidates
Night on Wednesday, October 25 at 8:00 pm in the LHS Band Room.
There are three open seats on the Town Council, with six candidates
running for them. The Democratic candidates are Charles "Buddy"
August, Arlene Johnson and Lee Peyser. The Republican candidates
are Rudy Fernandez, Will Jones and Phyllis Velardi.
GLoria Friedman will be hostess;
Dawn Clark of the Union County League of Women Voters, will
be the moderator. THe League sent the six candidates two questions
to prepare i advance. The audience is encouraged to bring their
own questions. TV34 will record the Candidates Night to show
several times before the November 7 election.
Absentee ballot applications are
also available in the Township Clerk's office.
