New Leaf Collection Procedures
As a result of the requirements of the new NJ Department of Environmental Stormwater Management Rules, Livingston Township has changed the procedures for the annual leaf collection program.

The Essex County clerk's office will visit Livingston Township Hall on Monday, Nov. 21 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm to process passport applications, veteran and physician licenses, and notary public oaths.

The bridge on E. Northfield Rd between Heron Rd and Northfield Ct is to be replaced. The work is scheduled to begin September 29, 2005 and projected completion date is June, 2006.

THE RISKS OF SUN EXPOSURE - Learn how to minimize your risk to sun exposure and actually see the effects of sun exposure on your skin with a Dermascan screening! The screenings will be held at the two town pools; no appointment necessary. The first program will be held at the Haines pool Wednesday, July 27 from 10 am - noon. The second screening will be at the Northland pool Wednesday, August 3 from 10 am - 2 pm. Free to residents; sponsored by the Livingston Nursing Division in partnership with Overlook Hospital.

Congratulations to the Livingston Post Office, which received the Bronze Award for raising funds in the Combined Federal Campaign for charity.

The West Oakwood Avenue bridge over Canoe Brook re-opened on April 22 after being closed for five months. Rebuilt by Essex County, the new bridge has a 40-fot wide roadway and 10 foot wide sidewalks on both sides of the road.

The meeting, with constituents from throughout the area, will focus on Social Security and the President's proposal to divert funding to private accounts. Experts from AARP and other organizations have been invited.

Board of Education member and candidate Antonio Calcado will speak at a meeting of the Livingston League of Women Voters on Wednesday, March 16 at 8:00 pm at the Hillside Avenue community center. He will discuss the increased student population, the need for additonal space at the high school, and other issues affecting the school budget.

"Make a Difference - Make a Donation" for Tsunami Support. . .the Livingston Health Department urges residents to donate to recommended relief agencies e.g. the American Red Cross, AmeriCares, the American Jewish World Service, the Salvation Army, Doctors without Borders, UNICEF, and Save the Children.

In addition, the NJ State League of Municipalities suggests visiting USAID (the US Agency for International Development) and the Center for Disaster Information for updates and information about helping.
