WEB RESOURCES FOLLOWING NEW JERSEY RECOVERY
Information regarding the recovery efforts following Hurricane Irene are provided on a variety of web resources from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

A presidential disaster declaration makes federal funding available in two forms: Individual Assistance (IA) and Public Assistance (PA).

IA for homeowners and renters can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses not met by insurance or other assistance programs. Also, low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.

PA is aid to state and local governments, as well as certain types of private nonprofit organizations. FEMA funds a minimum of 75 percent of the cost of eligible projects.

FEMA policies that guide the New Jersey recovery are available online.

The webpage www.fema.gov provides a general overview of the agency’s programs, types of disaster assistance and links to other important sources of information.

News, photos and information on the current New Jersey declaration are available at: http://www.fema.gov/news/event.fema?id=15536.
