The Patrol Division
is responsible for the initial response to reports of medical emergencies,
accidents, fires and crimes. Patrol officers work a twelve hour shift
that changes twice per day. As a result the Patrol Division is organized
into four squads.
The
patrol officers are generally the first responders for any call for
service by the public. Patrol officers also enforce NJ Criminal Statutes,
NJ Motor Vehicle Statutes, and Township Ordinances. If a person needs
the assistance of the Livingston Police Department, it is generally
one of these officers who will first assist him or her.
The
Patrol Division also is responsible for assisting citizens with quality
of life issues and making referrals when appropriate. These officers
pride themselves on rapidly responding to calls and safeguarding businesses
and homes within the community.
