NEW
JERSEY WATER SAVERS
The Township of Livingston was one of the first five municipalities
statewide to participate in the water conservation pilot program known
as New Jersey Water Savers developed by the Rutgers Cooperative Extension
Water Resources Program and the New Jersey Department of Environmental
Protection, Division of Water Resources and the United States Environmental
Protection Agency, Region 2, in 2007.
New
Jersey Water Savers implemented the following efforts in Livingston
over the last three years:
Demonstration projects such as the retrofit of low flow toilets, urinals
and sinks at Monmouth Court Community Center, a
Rain Garden at the Livingston Township Library and developed
a demonstration project plan for Heritage Middle School.
This
program provided outreach and educational efforts such as the Build
a Rain Garden Program, Fix a Leak Week and Smart Irrigation Month
and the Build Your Own Rain Barrel Program. New Jersey Water Savers
were on hand at National Night Out and the Art at the Oval/ Eco-Fair.
