PFAS: Filters & Treatment Technologies

Some customers may elect to use in home treatment technologies. Home water treatment devices are available that can reduce levels of PFOA and PFOS. For more specific information regarding the effectiveness of home water filters for reducing PFOA and PFOS, visit the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) International website (links below).  The NSF 53 standard is for systems certified to reduce PFOA and PFOS.  Most standard home filtration equipment such as tap filters, pitcher filters, and refrigerator filters meet an NSF Standard 42 but not necessarily NSF Standard 53.
