PFAS Treatment Construction Update


Project Summary

The first phase of the PFAS treatment upgrades, Wells 1, 4, & 11 PFAS Treatment Facilities, was awarded to Coppola Services of Ringwood, NJ on June 26, 2023 and formally kicked off July 17, 2023. This project involves building new PFAS treatment facilities at Wells 1, 4, and 11.  Additionally, there will be new water main installed along Congressional Parkway, Madison Court, and North Livingston Avenue to bring water from Wells 2 and 8 to the new treatment facility at Well 1. Updates to the construction will be posted here periodically.  The second phase of PFAS treatment upgrades involving construction at Wells 10 and 12 is anticipated to be bid in the fall of 2023.

Construction of upgrades and improvements to Wells 1, 4, & 11 PFAS Treatment Facilities, $8,751,890.00 were financed by the New Jersey Water Bank (NJWB).  The NJWB is a State Revolving Fund program jointly administered by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank (NJIB) and uses a combination of funds provided by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the DEP, and the NJIB to provide very low interest loans to borrowers for environmental infrastructure projects.

This project will provide water quality benefits by adding PFAS Treatment for various well facilities for residents and businesses in the Township of Livingston.   

State Revolving Fund programs around the nation provide states and communities the resources necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure protecting our valuable water resources nationwide.
