The sixth-graders at Mt. Pleasant Middle School worked all year long with the L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) Officers from the Livingston Police Department, Officer Joy Klapal and Officer Kevin Mullaney. On June 19, the students had a party with the L.E.A.D. Officers with pizza provided by the Mt. Pleasant Middle School Home School Association (HSA).
During the pizza party, two students from each class received a prize in recognition of writing the best L.E.A.D. essays. The essay winners were entered into a raffle for a $100 gift card donated by Livingston PBA #263. Principal Debra Ostrowski drew the winning ticket.

On June 20, the students participated in L.E.A.D. Day. Activities included speaking with the Livingston Fire Department, a first aid lesson from the Livingston First Aid Squad, using “fatal vision” goggles to simulate intoxication while driving pedal carts, and the landing of the NJ Army National Guard helicopter on the field at the school.
