Property Tax Grace Period Extended

For taxes due May 1, Grace Period now ends June 1

At a Special Meeting on Friday, May 1, 2020, the Livingston Township Council voted to take advantage of Governor Murphy’s Executive Order 130, which allows the municipality to extend the Second Quarter Property Tax Payment Grace Period to June 1st, rather than May 11th.

The Second Quarter Property Tax Payment Due Date remains May 1st.

As long as property taxes are paid by June 1st, there will be no interest charged. However, if taxes are not paid until after the June 1st extended grace period ends, interest will be charged retroactively back to the May 1st original due date.

In addition, the Council had previously voted to lower the interest rate on 2nd quarter delinquent taxes to 6%, so any interest charged will be at that lower rate

In taking these actions, the Township Council has implemented the only two forms of taxpayer relief that were legally available, in the interest of easing the economic burden on residents to the greatest extent possible.

Payment Options

Residents can make payments online at, by mail, or using the silver drop box behind the Town Hall building.
